1. Who we are
TrySpeak.ai is operated by QLian I.O.T US LLC. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, protect, and share personal data when you use our AI language tutor, AI speaking coach, AI pronunciation coach, and conversation practice with AI services.
2. Data we collect
- Account & profile — email, name (optional), chosen interface language, password (hashed), and account preferences.
- Learning activity — lesson transcripts, vocabulary lists, pronunciation recordings, scenario dialogue history, progress tracking, certificates, and study time.
- Usage data — IP address (hashed or truncated for analytics), browser type, device info, pages visited, features used, timestamps.
- Voice data — audio recordings of your speech when using pronunciation practice features. These are temporarily processed for feedback, then stored in your learning history until you delete them.
- Subscription & payment — transaction details, payment method (via processors like Stripe), billing address; we do not store full card numbers.

3. How we use data
- Provide lessons, tutoring, pronunciation scoring, certificates, and other AI language tutor features.
- Maintain safety, prevent abuse, and support Teen Mode filters.
- Provide support and service communications.
- Run analytics to enhance the AI language tutor experience.
4. Legal bases (GDPR/UK GDPR)
- Contract — to provide requested features (e.g., lessons, certificates).
- Legitimate interests — service improvement, security, and fraud prevention.
- Consent — cookies/analytics in certain regions; voice processing where required.
- Legal obligations — tax, accounting, compliance.
5. Cookies & similar tech
We use necessary cookies to keep you signed in and remember preferences; analytics cookies to measure usage; and functional cookies to improve conversation practice with AI. You can manage cookies via your browser and applicable consent banners.
6. Sharing & processors
We do not sell personal data. We share limited data with service providers under contracts that restrict processing to our documented instructions, including:
- Cloud hosting, storage, and content delivery;
- Analytics and crash reporting;
- Payment processing;
- Customer support and email delivery;
- AI model providers and speech processing (see below).
7. AI model & speech processing
To deliver AI speaking coach, AI pronunciation coach, and chat features, we may transmit your inputs and receive outputs from third‑party AI and speech providers acting as processors. Where available, we request providers not to use your data to train their models. We retain prompts and outputs in your learning history so you can review progress and generate certificates.
You can delete lesson transcripts and audio from your account history (see Your privacy rights).
8. Data retention
- Account data — kept while your account is active; deleted or anonymized within 30–90 days after permanent deletion request, unless law requires longer.
- Learning history — kept to power progress tracking and certificates; you can delete items or all history from your account.
- Logs & diagnostics — typically 12–18 months.
- Payment records — retained per tax and accounting rules.
9. International transfers
Your data may be processed outside your country. We use appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect cross‑border transfers where required.
10. Children & Teen Mode
TrySpeak offers an optional Teen Mode. When enabled, adult topics and in‑the‑wild role‑plays are hidden, and interactions are filtered for age‑appropriate learning. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor provided data without consent, contact us to remove it.
11. Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict/opt‑out of certain processing, or request portability. Submit requests by emailing [email protected]. We will verify your request and respond consistent with applicable laws. If your request is denied, you may appeal by replying to our decision email with "Appeal".
12. California notice (CCPA/CPRA)
- Categories collected — identifiers, internet activity, geolocation (approx.), audio (if you use voice), in‑app activity, and purchase info.
- Purposes — to provide and improve services, security/fraud prevention, and customer support.
- Sale/Share — we do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross‑context behavioral advertising.
- Opt‑out — you may opt‑out of analytics cookies in your browser and consent banner. You may also email us to limit sensitive data processing.
- Retention — see section 8.
- Rights — access, delete, correct, and limit sensitive PI; authorized agent requests accepted with proper verification.
13. Security & incident response
We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal data. If we learn of a security incident that affects your information, we will notify you consistent with applicable laws.
14. Do Not Track & signals
Our services do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. We honor consent choices presented in our cookie banner and your browser settings to the extent required by law.
15. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be notified in‑product or by email. Your continued use of TrySpeak indicates acceptance of updates.
